ANTIQUE TWIN SLEIGH BED. Solid wood headboard, footboard, and rails but unsure of type of wood. The inside of the bed rail states that the bed was made by the Los Angeles Furniture Company. According to Answers.com, that company existed in 1870 and was located at 724 South Broadway St. in Los Angeles, CA. I can only assume the bed is about 144 years old although some of the screws are Phillips which did not exist in 1870. The bed is more ornate than typical sleigh beds - with reeded spindles on each side of the headboard. The bed has had obvious repairs in the mattress support area. The lower inside of the headboard has lost a portion of its veneer but it is in an area that would be hidden by the bedding. A thin strip of veneer was also at risk on the lower outside footboard area. In order to keep it intact, and stay visually appealing, antique gold upholstery tacks were applied. Does anyone have any info or an idea as to its value?
