Description

I got this woodwork in 2005 from a frequent traveller to our B&B. He said it would apparently be part of his parent's 17th century former house in Austria if I remember well, but I am quite sceptical. I have no idea at all if this is true, I did not find much online on this except it seems to be a window shutter or panel…lots of asian designs come out but not at all with the design patterns mine have which do seem European. As you will see through the photos, the wood frame may or may not be part of the original centre although by looking in the back side at the way the frame is sculpted to adapt to the perimeter of the circle and corners, and imbed with it might prove to be of origin, and the wood type too. I have seen one example online with the back all flattened by machine, machine work is obvious thus I suppose made later than 17th if this work is originally that old.

The centre piece shrinked on the sides from the frame, much bad repairs with staples, glue appearing in the cracks where the frame imbed with the centre, brackets or hooks to hang it on the wall…some damages...

The piece is square, 30 inches by 30 inches, 1 inch thick
