I believe these may be made out of paper mashay? I have no clue for sure though. I inherited these from my grandmother (who was very wealthy) over a year a go. These statues are probably 15lbs each and very durable.
They don't look like paper mache, the color of them looks like terracotta clay. That said, it's impossible to tell what they are made of from an image. The styling of the clothes is very 1930's. The key is in the inscription, you'll have to get someone to figure out what it says to determine a maker.
