Description

According to family lore, my grandmother bought this bird tapestry/textile in 1967 at a street market in Trinidad. She was there with my grandfather, who was a visiting Fulbright professor at the University of the West Indies, I believe in St. Augustine.

I don't know much else about this, other than it's been folded neatly in my mother's linen closet for most of the last 37 years. It's in excellent shape with no fraying. I was wondering if anyone knew what it's origin might be, and if it's indicative of any certain style of folk art in Trinidad & Tobago.
