I have this chinese carved figure maybe 3" tall.. Looks kind of like a netsuke. Maybe boxwood but it has a greyish color to it.. Very old. Any help on origin would be great
It is a netsuke (pronounced Netskay, if you didn't know already). I used to collect these, though I only had a small collection. It has to be carved of wood, as you can see some grain pattern, as well as the cracks on the back. What wood it is, I have no idea. I suggest finding an actual person who deals in these items, or look for a book on them. Online is not always the best place to find information.
