Duncan Phyfe Drop Leaf Table

Appraisal complete
Description

I came across an old drop leaf table that needed some TLC as it had a broken leg and alot of scarring on the table top.  I went ahead and had it refinished from a dark brown to a deep, rich, cherry colour.  As it was dismantled, there were a couple of markings on the bottom and a unique pull opener on the drawer that warrented this inquiry.  The drawer is tongue and groove, and the pull opener is a brass lions head with a ring through its mouth.  The legs are dowled and underneath there is the number 97 stamped on bottom of drawer and immbedded into the wood base of the table.  It was brought to my attention that it could be an "original" Duncan phyfe.  If anyone could help with identifying, I would greatly appreciate it.

thank you

Darlene Phillips
