Description

I received this flag in the 1970's by bequith from my neighbor.  The woman was a relative of Sam Houston, but I do not remember the actual tie.

I believe that this is a battle flag used to identify different battalions in battle.  It does not appear to have been in any battle.  The are no signs of charring.

The letters and insignia appear to be machine sown onto the felt.  There are two felt pieces.  The top is half blue and half red.  The bottom layer is one full felt piece.  They are bound together by a four pieces of felt tied neatly in each corner.  The ends of the felt are hand cut into fring.

This flag has been kept in a cedar chest.  It has not been exposed to harsh light and is in remarkably good shape.

History I received this flag as a gift from an elderly neighbor in the 1970's. She claimed to be a relative of Sam Houston, but I do not remember the exact tie. I have had this flag stored in a cedar chest since that time.
