An older man, back facing the audience is holding a lantern and a crowd of four people, three women and a man--look as though they are servants stand behind him. The servants look inquisitive into the matter, where as te young girl at the piano looks calmly at the older man. They all appear to be in a living room that is dimly lit. On the bottom of the painting there is a signature that may read: publised by morris and bendien NY.
