Joerns Bros. Furniture-Stevens Point, Wisconsin

By johnatlakeshore, 18 January, 2016
Description

Purchased a bedroom set made by Joerns Brothers Furniture and what I want to know is what are the woods/veneers called as I have never seen anything like it. The furniture is from the 20's or 30's per the folks I bought this from. All the pieces have the Joerns tag on them and show it was sold to Robinson Furniture of Detroit, Michigan. On each side of the headboard is a piece of veneer that I would call wormy-not very good description but I don't know what else to call it. The center is something else. The bottom drawer on the dresser has that same wormy look to it. All the pics I have seen of Joerns bedroom furniture shows the wood grain running on a diagnal-not this set. The top of the dresser definately shows a straight grain running left to right and I believe its walnut but what do I know-may be mahogany(sic). There is also a small night stand and what I would call a vanity where a woman would put on makeup-this has three mirrors on it and a rounded part in the middle. I did not buy it to sell it -I liked it so much I did not even try to bargain. I did not include pics of the vanity as I still have to pick up the mirror and mount same
