Kittinger Receptionist's Desk

By Princessbunny54, 26 December, 2013
Description

This is a mahogony Kittinger half circle desk with run-off or typing extension. It has one center drawer, a small extension that drops down on the left (12") and a typing extension (36" long and 26" high) on the right. There are brass wheels on the legs.  Inside the drawer is a brass plate that reads; Kittinger, Furniture Craftsmen since 1866,

Patern T727-2-3TYR-York.

The measurements are approx. 6' x 6', the surface is 17 1/2" wide, a 14 1/2"  skirt . There are scrathes on surface and should be refinshed. The typing extension is attached with a bracket and so can be removed if desired.

I had the desk for 30+ years and have used it. I bought it in Washington D.C. It is a beautiful piece and I always feel special when I use it. I used it in my business and was always a conversation piece.

I know that the White House has used Kittinger Furniture for decades and since I bought it in DC who knows........... Over the years I have googled this piece and have only found one similar but that one did not have a typing extension, so to the best of my knowledge, it is a rare piece.

I recently became disabled and had to move to a small apartment so I am considering selling it.

Thank you for helping me in appraising this.  Donna
