Small book, gilt-edged pages, covered with red silk tartan. Small black lable on spine reads "Poems - Robert Burns". The condition of the book inside is very good, the silk tartan covering is rather threadbare though.
Full title: "The Poetical Works of Robert Burns. Poems".
Publisher: David Bryce and son, Glasgow (no date)
The book has 272 pages, and is illustrated throughout with various full-page photolithographic illustrations and (wood)engravings (also as decorations above and below text). The text includes:
- a "prefatory memoir",
- the main body of poems,
- a "glossary",
- and an "index, combining titles with first lines"
Because of the photolithographs I am guessing that the book can be dated to end 19th Century.
I found on internet that this little book might be one of series of 4 miniature books? I assume this will affect the value as I only have this one. I am interested to know if this little book is worth anything, so any ideas are very welcome! Thanks!
