Dear Sir/Madam
Please see attached photos of two oil paintings together with information about the artist Neal McPheeters.
The sizes are 61 x 91 cm and 91 x 91 cm Both paintings are on stretchers. Both are signed by McPheeters and the date is 1988. I am seeking a valuation with a view to selling both paintings.
Yours truly
Christopher Fox-Walker
Neal McPheeters was born in 1939 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He grew up on a small farm near Washington Landing, located on the Tennessee River about half way between Chattanooga and Knoxville.
After serving four years in the U. S. Navy where he was an air-crewman and flew off and on aircraftcarriers, he attended the Harris School of Art in Nashville. While still in school he began selling paintings through local galleries and freelancing as a magazine illustrator. A few years after graduation he moved to New York and began a long career as an illustrator.
In 1994 he and his wife, Victoria Petersen moved to Cape May and he turned his attention to creating paintings depicting the beaches and wetlands along the Atlantic Ocean and Delaware Bay. Recently he has returned to his first love - painting the human figure.
Over the years his paintings have won numerous awards and hang in permanent collection of the Tennessee State Museum, the Cheekwood Museum and in private and public collections scattered across America and Europe.
Re: Neal McPheeters
My name is Neal McPheeters and these two paintings were taken to England without my permission. I did not donate them, they were stolen from my studio in New York sometime in 1988. .
