Old handmade silver chain with gemstones

Profile picture for user Josephdm1

Description

I have a chain without markings that was made completely by hand. You can see all the little strikes used to shape it if you look very very close. It is a link and bar chain I believe. On ever bar is a red gemstone I can only assume we're also shaped with inferior tools. You can also see the marks on the stones where they were cut. I am no expert but from what I can tell it is silver and several hundred years old. I would really like to know how old exactly. I just can't see anyone today putting as many hours that had to have gone into making this piece today.
