I know absolutely nothing about this awesome looking lamp base. Initally I thought this was just a globe and wouldn't have guessed a lamp. When I took a closer look I saw on both ends the wires had been severed, so this lamp base was converted into a globe decoration.
It has two small metal tags on the piece with the words "made in italy" embossed. On the base of the lamp it has "made in italy" engraved and the number 637. I see nothing indicating the maker or date etc.,
If I had to guess on a date I would be leaning towards 1940s-50s, but that is a total shot in the dark. I have done some searching online and can find nothing about it. Any help on the time period of the piece, the maker or estimated value would be greatly appreciated.
