Is this Satsuma vase of any value?

By blackcatfinds, 29 March, 2023
Description

Possibly antique Satsuma Moriage vase. Someone converted this vase into a lamp and drilled a hole right through the base, but also some of the identifying marks. Besides the drill hole it is otherwise in fantastic condition. The vase has a carved wood base /stand that has some bits broken off on one side and (of course) a drill hole through the center.

An Asian (Japanese) signature in center of underside (partially obliterated) in gold and a painted signature in red on underside rim.

History
Acquired this when someone in my neighborhood was cleaning out house after selling their parents’ home. Someone converted this vase into a lamp and, judging by the age of the lamp components, the conversion was done Midcentury or earlier. Unfortunately, they not only stupidly drilled a hole right through the base, but also some of the identifying marks. I think this vase is actually quite old. Besides the drill hole it is otherwise in fantastic condition. It has a carved wood base /stand that has some bits missing on one side and a drill hole through the center.
