unknown statue

Description

 Hello. The problem that I encounter with this piece is that it was my grandmothers and my mother don't know were she got it.  The piece don't  have any markings on the bottom and I talk to a Chinese in my town and he told me that is not from China. Any help it well be very grateful.

Comparable pieces were made in both Japan and China during the late 19th century for export, but similar pieces are still in production. To determine what it is actually made of would require a physical examination.
