I have a sideboard that looks very similar to many "VINTAGE FRENCH COUNTRY LOUIS XV OAK SERVER SIDEBOARDS" I have seen online. Mine is solid oak but does have some veneer on the top of the sideboard which I have pictured and is peeling or flaked off in some areas. I am unsure if this was original to the piece or was added on to it as it does appear to be solid oak under the veneer top. My research has indicated that the Louis XV sideboards were from the 50's and I have seen many other pieces of furniture from this time period that also appear to have veneer over solid wood so I assume this was a common practice during this time period. I am unable to take my sideboard for appraisal but do not want to refinsh it until I know if it is valuable or not. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
