First off we need to know the exact spelling of the mark, as there are two companies " Wedgewood" and "Wedgwood" (note no "e" ). What you describe
is called "Jasperware", the "Wedgwood" variety ( no "E") can be identified
by the markings. If you could report all the markings on your piece, and provide an image I'd be happy to look at it again.
