Wooden shield crest with 9 miniature swords - Toledo, Spain

By LuckyShinn, 1 September, 2020
Description

This was left to me by my late grandmother along with a photo that states "Alleged to be minatures of all the swords of kings and queens of spain. Bought in Toledo, Spain Early 1960's" The swords have a bit of corrosion but all considered it's in pretty good shape. Wondering if its a tourist store piece or if it has any real value.

Re: Wooden shield crest with 9 miniature swords - Toledo, Spain

I think it’s a tourist piece but nicer than a lot online and the only one I’ve seen with nine swords. I’m seeing the similar ones start at $30 and going up to around $150. Here’s the style I’m seeing more of https://www.etsy.com/listing/602518353/spanish-wall-decor-vintage-estat…

These were popular decorator pieces in the late 1950's through early 60's when there was a mini burst in popularity in the Spanish Revival style, Zorro being one of the most popular TV shows of period. Most examples sell for under $100.00.
