This book was inherited and was originally purchased in Europe in the 1940's. The book is in immaculate condition save for some wear on the spine from repeated removel from dust cover. The book was published in New York by E.P. Dutton in 1908. It was translated by Edward Fitzgerald. The beautiful full page color artwork was done by Gilbert James. The book is handsomely leather bound. The text and trim is done in what appears to be gold leaf. The book comes in a boxed dust cover made of sturdy cardboard and is covered in what appears to be a silk like material.Ā The Dust Cover is not in very good condition. It shows signs of age (faded) as well as wear, but it is still very much intact and serviceable.
The line drawing poster has all four beatle on it and says sgt peppers on it. Also the artist is Steve Hanks. The black and white photo poster has many different pictures of the beatles through out the years in a collage style. The apple insignia is on the bottom left corner. i have not seen any of these in reproduction or on any vintage sites. I have also researched the wdgy sites and still have no informatlion. I woud love to know anything about these posters.
This is a small matchbox, with gold-dipped matches.Ā The front has a red 'strikeburst'embossed into it, with the words "KINDLE THE LIGHT" beside it.Ā On the back, it reads:Ā "MORE THAN A MATCH!Ā THE CHURCH WOMAN MAGAZINEĀ BOX 134Ā MANHATTANVILLE STATIONĀ NEW YORKĀ N.Y.Ā 10027Ā ONE YEAR $4.00Ā THREE YEARS $10.00Ā 10 ISSUES A YEAR"
Over half of the matches are still in the box, untouched.Ā There are a few strike marks on the strips on each side.
