Spindle Back Bench

Profile picture for user pbsmit@aol.com

Description

This bench appears to be hand made by a woodworking craftsman. It has a stamped number (date?) and initials on the bottom "1765 GW". It is 6 feet long with a single hand-shaped board 20 inches wide for the seat. There are no metal fasteners. The piece is in good shape - having scratches in the seat from pets.
My father acquired it in the 1950s somewhere in the Philadelphia area.
