Can you provide any information regarding the attached photos of an antique (circa 1920-1930) Japanese Porcelain Dragonware Demitasse coffee set? The set consists of 5 cups and saucers, coffeepot, creamer and covered sugar bowl with gold glaze on the insides. Each piece is hand painted and decorated with flying dragons and stylized clouds in the raised Moriage pattern.
There is a maker’s mark on the bottom of all the pieces. The mark is a reddish brown stamp consisting of two concentric circles with "Hand Painted Made in Japan" in between the circles. In the center of the mark are three pine trees on individual hills or mountains.
The set, was given to my wife, by her mother. Her mother had received it as a wedding gift in 1930. It is in excellent condition and has been in storage many years.
Any information regarding the maker and possible value would be appreciated.
Values for dragonware of all
Values for dragonware of all types are still very modest, they were mass produced items when made and they still survive in great numbers today. We routinely see complete tea and coffee sets sell for less than $165.00.
