Description
This item is a "Hoscar Award" which was named after the Oscar Awards, but was meant for a private theatre. This award was created at the Barn Theatre which was cofounded by Peter Tewksbury. Tewksbury became a famous director in the mid 1950's. He directed films with Jane Fonda and Elvis Pressley. The original Hoscar award was a porcelain horse with four legs. Later they changed it to a sitting donkey because the legs kept breaking on the horse. Today the award is made on a plaque. This item is the four leg horse version. It was awarded to a Joan Tewksbury, we were unable to find any information on her.
