auction Although little is known of his biographical details, Cedro painted scenes throughout California at the turn of the century and became known to the California audience for his primitive style. As legend has it, Cedro became despondent after his wife left him. He subsequently decided to seek revenge by traveling from saloon to saloon throughout California and the Pacific Northwest, painting large nudes of his former wife in exchange for spirits and food. Years later, Cedro traveled with Admiral Robert Edwin Peary to the Arctic to document at least one of his historic trips.
