Purchased this painting about 25 years ago at an estate sale in NE Ohio. It appears to be a copy on a tagboard-like material. There is a label on the back with the following info:
This bowl is approximately 6" in diameter with the inside featuring 3 Geisha women and 2 Geisha girls possibly in a garden with Cherry Blossoms or Magnolias and Lotus Flowers. The background starts with pale green at the top and darkens as it gets to the bottom . There is some crackling throughout the piece. The rim and artwork are trimmed with gold. The rim also has 5 spots where the edge is curled inward, possibly an ash tray or for incense. The back of the bowl has a black rectangle (this is NOT a sticker) with gold edging and symbols. The back is also all cream in color and also shows crackling. Questions, comments, or input are all welcome. Thanks!
I purchased the painting when I was in the military and stationed at Misawa, Japan. I am not sure of any detailed information about the picture other than the lady that sold it to me told me that it was from the early 1900s.
