Pictured is one of a set of four framed engravings by Medardus Thoenert, engraver from the late 18th to mid 19th century. They all have a denotation of "Kl. Ideen Mag." with a page number, along with the signature "Thoenert fc". All appear to be of an architectural nature, indicating a retreat house and garden structures with memorial (?) structures. I have been completely unable to uncover any information relating to these particular engravings, other than to identify the artist's signature as identical to that from several highly-valued engravings of (then) historical figures. Any input would be appreciated.
I'm looking to sell a dining room set. It is old and I picked ot up in a second hand store in RI about 16 Years ago. It consists of a pedastal table (sans extra leaf) a breakfront with a mirror and 5 chairs one of which is what I think is reffered to as a "Captains Chair" the chairs have stickers on the bottom that say "John A. Dunn Company -- Chairs and Rattan Products Established 1839 Incorporated 1902 39 Chapel ST. Newton MASS." the stickers are round and green and white in color. There is a space for a number "No." but the numbers are all faded. I didn't find any stickers on the tabel nor break-front, but the wood and color of the the chairs are exact matches which makes me think that it was all origionaly sold as a set. I'm not an expert on woods but I was told by a carpenter that it is Russian Oak (if there is such a thing). The seats are upholstered in black leather which is kind of dry. The chairs are kind of shaky and one has some damage to the back.
I would like to sell the set because I'm not an antique collector and I think I should sell it before my kids destroy it and it has no value at all.
Hi! I bought this at an estate sale and was trying to find more information about the age and value. It looks to be old, but I am no expert! It is about 4" wide. It does have some hairline cracks (or that is how I would describe them). I took photos to sho details! Thanks for any information or help!
