Brass scissors type tool with nest. Looks like it is to be used to squeeze something out of something or to compress?

This is a extremly tall Winterhalder grandfather clock with 9 tubes and 2 chimming options. The face of the clock is gold filigre and only has 3 circles on it. The largest and main one is the face of the clock and the 2 smaller ones are above the face. The one on the right says Whittington on top and Westminster on bottom. The one on the left says Chime on top and Silent on Bottom. The exterior wood housing is Mahogany and has a very unique scrolled pointed top that i have not seen on any of the other Winterhalder clocks on the internet. Also the front is glass with wooden trim. All parts are in perfect working order and there are no scratches or marks on it. Every part is all original and flawless as far as i can tell. I live in the house that i grew up in so i know the clock has not been moved or slid around at all since 1960. It is in mint condition.
By Drexel, rounded corner hutch.
No picture will get tomorrow. I know the 5 gallon western crock has the leaf and a five in it so I assume the 12 means a 12 gallon. Any value on that one I do have a picture.
***Grandpa wants me to make him pickles in it, I want to make sure it would be safe too. However if it is valuable grandpa needs a new set of golf clubs :)
