A 5 cent piece, date 1888. On the front it has a large number 5 with stars in a circle around it. On the front it has United States of America. On the back is some type of shield with In God We Trust and at the bottom has the date of 1888. It is a rather dark color. Don't believe it is actual silver but not sure.
This is what it has on it. Wheeler & Wilson Co. Bridgeport Conn. D-9 No. 2617059 Patented with dates before the 1900's, with gold looking coin in base. It still workes great.
It looks as if it's never been refinished. It's dark and holds a brass Brandt Furniture of Character on the bottom. 3591 is on the bottom also. It's dark wood. It was my great grandmothers. When & where she obtained it, I have no idea. I have additional pictures if that helps.
