My mother has had this beautiful piece ever since I can remember -- not sure of its origin. It has 8 heavy glass sides, surrounded by dark wood on top and bottom. A hinged lid on top has 3 locks requiring 3 different keys, and she has them all. Top is labelled "McNulty Ballot Box/Patented/C.F. Hoekel/H.B.S.L. Co. Sole Agents and Manufacturers/Denver, CO".
This is a beautiful Walldurn candle from Germany. It is aprox 10 inches tall from base to tip and aprox 13 inches measuring around. It has NEVER been lit!!!There are 2 stickers on the bottom of the candle. The white sticker is in German and says "Diese Kerze ist Geschmacksmuster geschutzt".The round sticker says "WALLDURN BADEN SCHUTZMARKE JOHANN GUNTER WACHSWARENFABRIK" and in the center says "seit 1924", = since 1924. I am not sure of the exact age of this candle but believe it to be an antique/vintage piece. It is in very good condition with the only wearing being from aging over time.
There is one hairline crack (visible only, not any seperation)in the top about 4" long, one wooden tuning key? missing, otherwise in beautiful condition.
Full set of dinnerware, appears clay colored in worn spots near base of dishes under the black shiny finish. Black with gold design, almost Indian like, with handpainted dots of various colors. Gold trim.
