Re: 17th Century Halberd

The halberd looks like it may be 17th century based on the etching detail in the head.  There are many of these out there and many more Victorian era copies of them.  I have 4 halberds myself, and all are Victorian copies.  The good news either way is that even the Victoria era ones have some value.  Generally based on what I've seen at auction, the Victoria era halberds fetch about $600-900 and the original 16th or 17th century halberds fetch $800-$1400.  You can go to www.faganarms.com, which is a website for a company that sells medieval weaponry and armor.  They have a number of examples of halberds for sale.  Another site, there is an auction at Thomas Del Mar in London on 5/7 of a collection of arms and armor.  There are both authentic 16th and 17th century halberds and 19th century reproductions.  You can look at the auction estimates for what they they they will sell for to get an idea on value.   Just google Thomas Del Mar auction and you should be able to easily find the site.  They also have examples of swiss, italian and german halberds, so you may be able to see if any of these styles match yours.

Hope this helps
