This painting was found left in an abandoned storage unit over ten years ago by a friend of mine,he's never had it appraised or looked at by anyone,I cannot find a signature or any type of initials anywhere,by the looks of the subject it's certainly 1800's,the portrait is 30" long and 25" wide without the frame,it looks like an oil on canvass and looks like it may have had a lamp over top of it at one time because at the back of the top of the frame there's a bracket that might have held a lamp maybe, any information at all would be a major leap because neither he nor I know anything about art

Re: 1800's oil on canvass portrait by unknow artist HELP!!!!!!
Oil paintings really are not suited to the online appraisal format and really require a physical appraisal by a specialist. I strongly reccomend you contact a local Auntioneer or museum for a referral, genrally both places will have someone on file to provide this service.
