Re: 18K GOLD ENAMEL PORTRAIT RING

I purchased a similar ring for my Mom.

Not round..... but jeweler said that it was enamel over inlayed silver foil! The ring itself was two tone gold

There is a signature underneath and that the setting (in multi-color gold) was set into the mounting with lead.. which they typically did in the late 1800's.

The jewelry store owner ( a very high end store in Indianapolis) said moms was worth around $200....... depending on if we can find out who the signer is and how many of these that he did.

That was a disappointing blow....... I paid much more and the ring was advertised as inlaid opal.... go figure!

Please let me know if you find out more about your ring. WAS IT SIGNED UNDERNEATH THE SETTING?

Thanks
Patti
