1938 Jamestown Lounge Co. Feudal Oak 12-piece Banquet Dining Room group: table, chairs, credenza, cabinet, and hutch

By Jennifer Flood, 1 September, 2009
Description

We are considering buying this 12 piece set from a friend but really have no idea what would be a fair price to offer as we're not antique experts. Any help from knowledgeable folks appreciated! Attached are some photos of the furniture.

Additionally, here's a link to the 1938 Jamestown Lounge Catalog with the furniture
http://www.prendergastlibrary.org/Extra!Extra!/jamestownloungecompany/F…

The set includes the #9220 (refectory) table, cabinet, credenza, hutch, 6
side chairs, and 2 # 9000 arm chairs (on page 7). All are in rather good condition except for some scratches and a watermark on the table.

Re: 1938 Jamestown Lounge Co. Feudal Oak 12-piece Banquet ...

Jennifer, if you read this, I'd love to know if you purchased it! The value? Well, it's hard to say. By that I mean that if someone is looking for Jamestown Lounge pieces, they would be willing to pay a decent amount. If it went to auction, it probably wouldn't sell for much. My mom just sold her house and had an auction. 3 commode tables (2 matched, 1 coordinated) and a partially enclosed coordinating coffee table sold at auction for $10 TOTAL. All in very good condition. These peices were purchased by my parents and had been in their formal living room and library so did not see much use or abuse (by us kids!). However, you don't see much Jamestown Lounge up for sale either. I think a lot of it wasn't marked. Some pieces had paper labels, some had brass plates, some were wood burned, and some weren't marked at all. In fact, I don't believe ANY of my parents Jamestown Lounge furnishings were marked except for 2 upholstered pieces that were signed. And there was quite a bit of it in our home. Both of my parents were from Jamestown, but moved to Indiana when they were married. Anyway, I'd love to hear from you. My email is [email protected]. I'm looking for a couple pieces for my own home now!
