Description This penny has a minting error. I have looked for a similar in many resources and have not been able to find one like it. I was told by a coin dealer that the coin was damaged. I viewed the coin under powerful magnification and there is no evidence of scratch marks, etc. If you look closely at the shape of the "9" in the date... the nine is not shaped like a standard nine and the date is clearly stamped... I don't see how any damage could change the shape of a numeral... Please advise Thank you

In my opinion both these pennies would be rare because there is no mint mark either. That 9 on the left one is definitely skewed but I too was unable to find it via the internet. I will look thru my rare coin book to see what I can find and get back to you soon. Best wishes.
