Description
I picked up a book from 1950 named The Marx Brothers by Kyle Crichton from a thrift shop in NC for a dollar. On the title page is handwriting and two autographs. I've included some photos of the writing for you to examine to get your opinion.
I believe it says the following:
N.B.C. is much closer to
the Brown Derby - and I hope
I wind up that close.
Groucho - to Mc Connell
Gummo
--
If it is genuine, what would something like this be worth? THANK YOU!!
Category
Autographs
Medium
Book in good condition with autographs and writing in blue ink on the title page.
Distinguishing marks
Groucho and Gummo autograph, with three lines of handwriting by Groucho Marx.
Condition
Good
Date Period
1950s
History
No idea who donated it to the thrift shop, but there is a reference to McConnell in one of Groucho Marx's published letters. In the letter to someone named Goodman, he referenced Gummo contacting McConnell. So I believe these autographs were meant for someone he knew quite well.
Price Paid (If known)
$1 - at a thrift shop. I believe the autographs were overlooked
