History Takamine broke away from Martin guitar maker in 1962, in 1978 there was a big lawsuit about where the wood came from for the guitars, either from Japan or from America. The 12 string is the F 400 model that the lawsuit was about. The 6 string is from 1977 and was made in japan, and has the wood burning marker that distinguishes it as having been made in japan. The Takamine American contact company said that being left handed makes them fairly rare, and they have the LH wood burning that distinguishes them as having originally been made left handed.
