19th Century dresser

Appraisal complete
Description

This dresser has been in our family for six generations and has always been referred to as a "bonnet dresser". However, looking online I think that a bonnet dresser would be of a different style. This appears to be mahogany. There are some issues with the veneer. The date in our family would have been from 1880 or earlier.

As much, or more, than the value, I am interested in knowing what style it should be called and from about what date.
