I am very new to the world of antique furniture, but this piece caught my eye. It appears to be a washstand made from mahogany. The back is solid mahogany and is dovetailed into the sides. There is no secondary wood. Drawer sides, backs, and bottoms are all mahogany. All dovetails appear to be hand cut. Appears to have the original finish. There are two cracks from drying out over time, one in the edge if the top and the other in the base. All three knobs appear to be brass and all matching. Now the interesting part. The label on this said "BROCMORE HOUSE", which apparently doesn't exist. However, the stamp on the bottom where I'm sure the owner got the name BROCMORE is well worn. I'm quite certain it says "FROGMORE HOUSE". Then it has the symbol for the reign of Victoria, and the date 1871. It is also marked "ROOM 59". There are remnants of a paper label underneath the top that only show the letters "FR" and the word "ROOM". That also makes me fairly sure the bottom stamp reads FROGMORE. What do you guys think? Basically I want to make sure that if it has any real value, that it is properly appraised and cared for. Could this piece have been in the Frogmore House? Thank you. I hope the pictures show up well.
