24K Gold Plated Coffee/Tea Service Set

By red_48047, 18 August, 2009
Description

I have been trying to date & value this set without success so far.

Made by: International Silver Company

Location: Meriden, Conn. 06450

Ingraving: Webster Wilcox, I & S with scribe around each, & International Silver Co.

Pattern: COUNTESS

Stickers: Electroplated with 24k gold International Silver Company & Inspectors sticker

Item #'s: 6201/GP, 6202/GP, 6203/GP, 6204/GP & 6291/GP

I have all of the original boxes that each item was packed in from the company. All of the pieces are in excellent condition with exception that they need a minor cleaning. From the research I have done I have found that the Webster Wilcox ingraving was started in 1961. I have contacted the company recently to find out that they had purchased the company in 1986 and had no history on previous items. So that is as close as I have been able to narrow done the date range. I am also very curious as to what type of material is under the plating.

I would greatly appreciate any and all information.

Re: 24K Gold Plated Coffee/Tea Service Set

It would be best to contact International Silver as they were the company that made this set. The last6 one of the Webster/International gold plated set I saw sell at auction (in 2004)sold for $475.00.

Re: 24K Gold Plated Coffee/Tea Service Set

I just contacted International silver 2 days ago & was told the current ownership purchased the company in 1986. She also stated that they have nobody that could date anything before they purchased the company. Thank you for your response.

Re: 24K Gold Plated Coffee/Tea Service Set

I bought a Tea Service almost identical to this in 1983 from Marshall Field & Co. in Chicago, Illinois. I paid $600.00 for it. You could try contacting a reputable appraiser and get a written appraisal.
