The paintings is oil on canvas. The frame is an original gesso frame and the glass on the frame is also very old. The glass is very old and hand rolled. Writen on the piece of wood holding the painting in place is written "Painting to believed to be 250 yrs old. Glass is some of rolled glass, very old. Purchased in Bristol England in 1940." That is all I know about it. I will take several pics as well as a scan of the painting. The actual canvas measures 6 1/4" x 7".

Is there anyone out there that can help identify the artist? Any suggestions?
Re: 300 Year Old+++ Virgin Mary Painting (Madonna)
A good appraisial can not be given to your painting without a physical examination. I would recommend you locate a "certified" old masters art apprasier.
Re: 300 Year Old+++ Virgin Mary Painting (Madonna)

If you feel this piece is 300 years old you need to contact one of the big auction houses such a sotheby's, christies or Bonhams. There's no way anyone can idenitify it from images

Lovejoy
