80s Crocodile Purse

Description This is what I *think* is a crocodile purse. My friend bought it in Spain in the late 80s. There is a tag that says " TP (trademark symbol) vero coccorillo" 2 things confuses me: -The top of the purse looks like snakeskin, but there's no mention of snakeskin on the tag. -On both skins (snake and croc) the scales are not smooth, they look like little flaps. If you run your hand along them backwards, it's very prickly. All the vintage croc purses I see online look very smooth and not scaly. I'm wondering if someone with exotic skin knowledge can confirm the type, and tell me what it's worth.
