This particular sampler has been reproduced on a grand scale. Nobody will able to tell you much without actually physically examining the piece. These samplers were generally done by young girls to practice sewing skills, the odds of them doing multiples of the same sampler with the same date are slim to nill.

Sampler, from the collection of the late Theodore H. Kapnek, the most outstanding collector of the medium, was wrought by Martha Southwick in 1836 and includes as well the name of her town of Dublin, N. H. As Joel Kopp pointed out, this sort of detail quickens the pulse of a collector, since it opens up the possibility of genealogical records. The central image is that of a red brick house. Mr. Kapnek had done his homework and found that Martha's father had indeed built a brick house on Lot 21 in Dublin, so that in all likelihood this was her own home. She had died at the age of 73 following, one presumes, her own good advice: ''Be virtuous if you would be happy.'' This sampler is valued at $4,500.   If Its real..

Its only worth what someone is willing to give you.

GOOD LUCK!
