Description
This 11 inch rag doll has a cloth head and body, very firm, and painted eyes, nose and mouth. There are small nails or pins attaching some of the clothes and the head scarf. The feet are stiched and the clothes seem to be hand stitched.
I am interested to know if this is an African American doll made in America, and how old it might be. The previous owner said it dates from the late 1890s, but someone I know who knows about dolls looked at it and said it's not old and it was made in the Carribbean. I can see it being something of a tourist souvenir type thing, but maybe not.
Any information would be greatly appreciated!
