Description

These are a pair of Paul Hanson hand painted lamps. The lamps work and do not seem to have any defects except minor discoloration from age.

I'm curious as to what the value of these are? I've looked everywhere online and can't seem to find a pair like it, but have found many other Paul Hanson lamps.

Any information you can give would be appreciated!

🔍 Overview and Identification

These are authentic Paul Hanson table lamps, identified by the embossed “PAUL HANSON” socket and overall design. Known for elegant, high-quality lighting from the 1940s–1970s, the Paul Hanson company produced lamps for high-end department stores and interior decorators.

Key Features:

  • Floral hand-painted ceramic bodies with bright pinks, golds, and blue highlights.
  • Decorative faux key accents on the brass collars — an uncommon and collectible detail.
  • Original wiring and sockets with age-appropriate patina.

While Paul Hanson lamps are common, this specific floral motif with dual-faux keys and base matching is unusual and more collectible than average.

✅ Authentication

Based on:

  • Socket stamp (“PAUL HANSON” is consistent with authentic examples)
  • Hardware and design consistent with 1950s–60s construction
  • High quality porcelain with underglaze floral painting

These lamps appear authentic and original

📌 Selling or Appraisal Notes

🔧 Restoration Tip:

Consider light brass polishing and rewiring if selling, as modern safety standards often increase buyer interest. However, leave the patina if keeping them vintage.

🛍️ Where to Sell (If You Change Your Mind):

  • Chairish or 1stDibs (for higher-end buyers)
  • eBay or Etsy (mid-market)
  • Local estate sales or vintage shops

🧾 Recommendation

You do not need a professional appraisal unless you're insuring them or planning to sell at a high-end auction. Their market is well-established and comparable sales are accessible.
