I believe this is an African Birthing Chair. It is wooden, possibly hand carved, and is two separate pieces that fit together. The seat and tongue are one piece and the back and legs are one piece as well. The tongue fits into a slat on the back and feet piece creating a chair that is inclined backwards and sits very low to the ground. It is roughly 32 inches in height from the top of the back to where the tongue touches the ground and roughly 27 inches in length from the tip of the tongue to the end of the seat. I purchased the chair at a storage unit auction. It is a bit worn and the wood a little bit dry but I think it might have been oiled at one time. It is still in what I would call good condition. Please let me know what additional information might be needed.
