Description

I really like these chairs I purchased and would appreciate some identification.  I can't find anything similar in the internet of all things or American Furniture Catalogs.

Chair construction is solid wood and well made,  seats have crayon like marks:  4202   -   G004-12.  under seat finish is rough and unpolished, similar to low line Tell City chairs.
They seem to be dyed mahogany, machine carved, have a crackled antique patina and polyurethane re-finish.

-  Are these Early American Empire style?.

- Are they Tell City Furniture?   A free lance carpenter's creation?

- Is it better I strip down the polyurethane?

- What could be aprox. value?

From what I can see in the images they are "Empire Revival" examples made after 1900. Most are made of maple and given a mahogany dye stain which is often difficult to remove or refinish properly. Chairs like this were factory made, but without a label are difficult to determine a maker for.
