American Stag?

Description To Whom It May Concern, I was wondering if you can identify and appraise this antique framed piece. I believe it's done in charcoal? It once hung in the historic Amos Stearns house, 1079 Trapelo Road (c1700s) in Waltham, MA, where I was born. The title "American Stag" sticks in my head for some reason? My thanks in advance, Curious, Anthony G. Cross
