Long Description
I recently recieved this as a gift, and I am curious to see whether it is real or not. The mask is very small, only 3.5 inches across and 2.5 inches high. It sports a heavy patina of green and brown, with trace sediment deposits. Supposedly, it was unearthed at the Sanxingdui mound in China (making it a relic of the Bronze Age). It is quite light, but definitley solid metal, and, if it is real, likely bronze (it does not exhibit attraction to a magnet, so it is not iron). It does not bear any identifiable markings, unless they have been covered by the thick patina.Â

History
Very, very old if it is not a clever forgery. Recieved it as a Christmas present. Purchased online from Thailand, from a vendor that, I believe, had a small collection of other artifacts from the same region and site.
