Description
The beads are quite large- appx the size of a cottonball. After much research, the main body of the beads remains unidentifiable. At first I thought they were "dung" beads- but I'm really not sure. The color is like that of dark sand & appears to be rather "gritty." There are decorative accents over both beads and I believe it is silver & coral. The tiny round coral pieces are actually set down into the body of the beads- not simply sitting on top and they are of various shapes & sizes. They appear handmade as each bead is of a different size, shape & weight. They are crudely made and the hole that goes through them seems to have been picked or "chipped" out. The coral pieces are placed within the swirls of the silver design.
Re: ANCIENT SILVER & CORAL BEADS
These are indeed moroccan sterling silver w/coral bead inlay beads. They are very beautiful and collectible. I would think these ones are worth about $50-65 as a pair.
Re: ANCIENT SILVER & CORAL BEADS
Hey Fish! How do you know they are Moroccan? Is there a name for them i.e., "prayer" beads or "healing" beads? Can you tell me a time period of their manufacture or appx age of the beads? What material was used to form the beads? I'm super curious about them. Thanks for your responce! *Filly*
