antique camel back couch

By my3miracles, 14 October, 2014
Description

Hi, I bought this couch many years ago from a garage sale, the people I bought it from did not have any history or information about it. It is a beautiful antique camel back couch that appears to be all hand carved. I can not see any seams in the wood where peices were put together. There are no marks on it from the maker or manufacturer anywhere. I lost the only peice of info there was on it,when I bought it, there was a shipping receipt stuck to the bottom of it. it was shipped from Germany to Portland oregon. the name of the owner was on the receipt and when I looked their name up online I found out she was a semi famous singer in Germany that retired in the 80s and moved to Beaverton Oregon. im sure there is more than one person with that name but the fact that she moved to america and I bought the couch 15 miles away from where she moved with a shipping receipt from germany to america makes it very provable. Anyways, this does not help me as I lost the receipt and can not remember her name. All it tells me is that maby the couch was made in Germany. The feet are carved but not clawfoot. It looks like the upolstery may have been redone. On the back there is a long cut in the cloth, but underneth there is another layer of the same material in great condition. I bought it because of its beauty, but I WISH i could know its history and maker and when it was made.  Thank you for your help.
